Ian Smith, the fat smash diet author, has quite a resume. In addition to sitting on the board for the American Council on Exercise, he is a health consultant for well known television shows and a columnist for many health magazines. Celebrity Fit Club, the show he created and for which he served as head judge, was based on the fat smash diet.
The fat smash diet is designed to create healthy habits through implementing four distinct phases:
One – detox: People can lose as much as 10 pounds in nine days by removing negative food and spiritual influences from their lives. Amongst other weird habits to get into during this phase, Smith suggests walking around in a bathing suit and weighing yourself in front of a mirror.
Two – foundation: Some foods removed during detox are reintegrated during this three week phase in the smash diet. These include the 3 ounces of meat or seafood, and is based on portion control rather than calorie count.
Three – construction: This a four-week phase is a time during which the dieter creates an eating plan that incorporates foods they enjoy. Moderation is important when things like sweets and breads are added back to the diet.
Four – Temple: Now the dieter takes the fat smash diet into their every day life. The temple built in the first three phases must now be maintained through will power and control.
Overall the fat smash diet is just OK. The initial 6 to 10 pound weight loss is really due to severe calorie cutting which can be dangerous. In addition the nine day detox is considered unhealthy by many health experts. But the fat smash diet is spot on when it comes to eating in moderation and physical activity.
